-.- Living room reference story: How to design a small living room?

Vinhomes Central
Use mirrors and wallpaper. With a small living room, simultaneously if it’s short on windows, can feel a bit boxed in. Create a focal point, boost light and add depth all at once by hanging a mirror on top and papering a wall. If you can position the mirror across from a window, all the better — the mirror will reflect the view outside, giving the impression of an extra window.
The layout: Center the love seat on the papered wall, flanked by lamps and a pair of matching side tables. A large woven ottoman can work as a coffee table or an extra seat. If there’s room, you could work in two across from the love seat or an extra (small-scale) chair in this arrangement. Seats: two to four.

Pick furniture with built-in storage to limit clutter. Storage ottoman or a trunk as a coffee table works well. Along the perimeter of the room, try a small chest of drawers or a small credenza instead of a console table to boost storage options.

-.- Kitchen reference story: Choosing kitchen finishes wisely

Start with your countertops. "Countertops require careful contemplation, especially for a large island, as this can be the biggest texture and single item of color". This large surface area is a great place to start and can be the basis for the rest of your kitchen's materials palette.
Kelly recommends us sticking with a single countertop material, with slight variation at the pantry or island for consistency and simplicity.
Choose a countertop that's durable and easy to clean. Justrich recommends looking into composite or granite materials like Caesarstone first. For a bigger statement, zinc or natural wood, go for stainless steel. Aim for light, reflective and smooth materials. Slabs of stone or large-format tiles will minimize grout lines, create a smooth and easy-to-clean surface.

Kelly keeps his materials choices as simple and natural as possible. Wood, marble and slate are all common choices. Kelly recommends sticking to a small palette with three or four materials to keep it simple. Should choose light-colored cabinetry to keep the space bright and open, using other materials in small doses for visual depth and texture.
Consider the cabinetry. Depending on the kitchen, Ahmann can start with the cabinet as the beginning of the materials palette. He commented that is what ends up being most 'in your face,' as the wall cabinets are smack dab at eye level.

-.- Bedroom reference story: Colors for a calming bedroom

One of my favorite colors for bedroom walls is a dark gray-blue. This is dramatic but still retains a calm, cool and collected vibe. Of course, soothing needn’t equal boring. Think about how you can break it up with a large piece of artwork or decorative headboard, if you have concerns about introducing such a deep color to your room.

Soft gray. Rooms with pure white walls and ceilings can sometimes have a cold and stark feeling. For a lighter option, consider soft gray. By adding a bit of gray tint to one or the other, you still get a light and bright space, the slight contrast between the gray and the white gives a more finished and less institutional look.
To help bounce light around the room that has dark gray-blue walls, you need inject plenty of white elements and perhaps go for a classic bright white ceiling. Experts say that one of the best ways to warm up a cool color palette is to include warm materials such as wood plus natural fibers like sea grass, sisal  and jute.

This bedroom could easily pass for a high-end hotel room. The soft gray wall color is the perfect background to the darker gray elements. Even though this space is chock-full of cool hues, it doesn’t feel impersonal.

-.- Bathroom reference story: Ways to spruce up an older bathroom

Usually, 1 pedestal sink will still be in good shape after decades of use, but a leaky faucet and out-of-date sconces will need to be replaced. The style of these 2 items can transform your bathroom, this isn’t involve changing the tile at all. If you’re dealing with a colored tub, consider having it resurfaced.
You can paint the walls, medicine cabinet white and let the tile color with whatever it may be to speak for itself. With a cleaner background, your colored tile could be a new favorite. Keep in mind that even if you do end up ripping out the tile, then you can reuse the fixtures in the next phase of your bathroom renovation.

Be purposeful about the artwork. Here is one more example of how updating fixtures can revive the bathroom without the need to redo the tile.  Use what you hang on the walls to your advantage. Another element that helps mitigate the tile color is artwork. Usually there’s space for only 1 or 2 pieces in a smaller bathroom, so you should focus on pulling in the tile color as a minor color. This means the rest of the art can be something you love and can feature more of your favorite colors, with just that touch of teal, pink, peach or whatever’s in your vintage bathroom, the art will still connect with the space.
Use a metallic or wood frame, so there’s one less color to factor into your design.
